Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book details long-term research conducted in three geographically distinct areas of the United States. The author followed established campsites within these wilderness areas over a period of years to observe how they changed. The author was primarily interested in how different factors like usage levels and environmental characteristics affected the observed changes. The research shows that while some campsites improved over time, others remained the same or even deteriorated. Interestingly, the campsites that saw the most consistent improvement were those that had been closed off to the public. The most common changes observed were increases in campsite area, exposure of mineral soil, and damage to trees, while impacts to ground cover vegetation tended to stay the same or decrease. Revealing the dynamic nature of campsites, this book provides valuable insights into the complex relationship between recreational use and wilderness preservation. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
