Brossura. Condición: new. Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a colorful glimpse into ancient ceramic art and sculpture through an exploration of an intriguing class of Greek vessels and their accompanying statuary. The focus is on small, decorative ceramic vessels, dating from the 4th century BCE, primarily used to hold precious liquids, such as scented oils and perfumes. These vessels are notable for their unique and richly colored designs, featuring mythological and genre scenes meticulously recreated using a combination of methods including painting, sculpting, and gilding. The author delves into the techniques and materials used in the production of these objects, comparing and contrasting them with other vessel designs from earlier and later epochs. By situating these unique ceramics within the broader context of Greek artistic traditions, the author illuminates the vessel's significance as a fascinating example of the intersection of art and everyday life in ancient Greece.
