Añadir al carritoFirst edition. Oblong quarto (12 x 9 1/4 inches). 79, [1] pp. of which all but four pages are comprised of photographic illustrations of furniture on offer. Publisher's spiral bound brown and white wrappers, titled in black. Some ligght weat to edges and very minor soiling to rear but, overall, a very handsome copy. One copy located by OCLC. The first 60 pp. contain images of the company's specialty; fine reproductions of 18th century American furniture and the rest of the catalog are of their modern furniture."Over the course of nearly seven decades, Charak Furniture Company produced exemplary reproductions of 18th-century-era furniture, including works created in the American colonial and Georgian styles, as well as sophisticated mid-century modern pieces made by the likes of German furniture designer and painter Tommi Parzinger. Charak was established in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1919. It earned a reputation for exceptional design and durability, and the 1920s were a period of high production for the brand. Charak was a leading manufacturer of reproductions of early American furniture that was influenced by Queen Anne? and Georgian?era design, including secretaries, dressers and cabinets with exquisite details like accented moldings, carved finials, recessed door panels, claw feet and other embellishments. While the Great Depression put many furniture manufacturers out of business, Charak Furniture Company weathered the era?s difficulties. In fact, during the 1930s, it introduced one of its most enduringly popular dining tables: the drop leaf Danbury table. The solid mahogany table, which features four leaves to comfortably accommodate larger dining parties as necessary, is supported by four slender and elegantly curving legs, a wonderful example of the company's furniture from this era.".

Añadir al carritoSmall Folio. 27.5cm. Publisher's embossed blue cloth titled in black to spine and boards. 914pp. Minor wear to extremities and spine ends, some soiling and thumbing in places; internally clean. A very good copy of a large and unwieldy, but densely packed, trade catalog. A frankly bewildering catalog of lab equipment, medical supplies, tailor made research materials (alembics of any size!), and arcane devices undeniably making Macalaster Bicknell "the complete one stop Supply Center for the Industrial, Educational, Hospital and Public Service Laboratory." A fascinating leftover from the days when mammoth tomes like this would have been frequently referred to and prioritized as the only conduit for obtaining unusual or highly specialized equipment, and before the supply chains for such things were stretched somewhat precariously across the globe.

Boards slightly warped with light soiling, rear cover and textblock fore-edge a bit foxed, else Very Good, contents bright and sound. Catalog of dye samples issued by the venerable Swiss chemical company of J.R. Geigy, founded ca. 1758 by Johann Rudolf. Shortly after this volume was issued the company entered the pharmaceutical business, eventually merging with Ciba AG in 1971 to form Ciba-Geigy. The present work issued for the company's customers "to guide them in the use and about the properties of our wool colours. It has been our aim to make this little work as short, and at the same time, as lucid as possible." The opening pages provide instructions in using their product, including the dissolving of dyestuffs before use. The bulk of the work organized into tables separated by wool sample, beginning with a short and vivid description ("cheapest greenish yellow"; "the Erioglaucines fastest to light"; "of good evenness and particularly well suited for navy blues"). These are followed by instructions in dyeing cotton, wool, or silk, degrees of fastness to shrinking, discharging properties, etc. OCLC lists a number of similar titles as of December, 2021, none matching pagination of this edition.
