Hardcover. Reprint. Third printing (1988). 167, [2] p. : ill. (some col. ); 28 cm. From Wikipedia: "Saab-Scania AB was the name chosen when truck and bus manufacturer Scania-Vabis of Södertälje merged with car and aeroplane manufacturer Saab AB of Trollhättan in 1968, under the Wallenberg family group of companies. The merger meant that Saab no longer had to import the British Triumph Slant-4 engine, and could instead use the engine production facilities of Scania. In 1972 they started manufacturing the 2.0 L B version. In 1977, Saab took advantage of Scania's experience with turbochargers and added one to the engine, thus creating one of the earliest turbocharged automobile engines to be produced in large numbers. Saab-Scania consisted of following divisions: When the corporation was split in 1995 the name of the truck and bus division changed to Scania AB. Saab Aircraft (Saab AB) and Saab cars were also split, with General Motors buying a major holding in Saab Automobile AB." Very good in very good dust jacket. Distribution letter (mass produced) laid in. DJ has slight wear and soiling. This work commemorates the 50th anniversary of the founding of Saab, Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget.…

Scania AB, formerly AB Scania-Vabis, is a major Swedish manufacturer of commercial vehicles - specifically heavy trucks and buses. It also manufactures diesel engines for heavy vehicles as well as marine and general industrial applications. Scania AB was formed in 1911 through the merger of Södertälje-based Vabis and Malmö-based Maskinfabriks- aktiebolaget Scania. The company's head office has been in Södertälje since 1912. In addition, there are assembly plants in ten countries in Africa, Asia and Europe. Scania's logo shows a griffin, from the coat of arms of the province of Scania. AB Scania-Vabis was established in 1911 as the result of a merger between Södertälje-based Vabis and Malmö-based Maskinfabriks-aktiebolaget Scania. Vabis was established as a railway car manufacturer in 1891, while Maskinfabriks-aktiebolaget Scania was established as a bicycle manufacturer in 1900. Both companies had tried their luck at building automobiles, trucks and engines, but with varied success. In 1910, Scania had succeeded in constructing reliable vehicles, while Vabis was at the brink of closing down. An offer from Per Alfred Nordeman, managing director of Scania, to steel manufacturer Surahammars Bruk, owner of Vabis, led to an agreement in November 1910, and in 1911 the merger was a reality. Development and production of engines and light vehicles were set to Södertälje, while trucks were manufactured in Malmö. During the Second World War Scania produced a variety of military vehicles for the Swedish Army, including Stridsvagn m/41 light tanks produced under license.…
