Inspector Thompson's memoir of his almost 20 years working as personal guard of Winston Churchill. From pre-war Egypt to the London Blitz, and wartime meetings at Yalta, Casablanca, and Teheran. 309 pages, 5-3/4" X 8-1/2". Dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped, original price of $3.75 printed on the top corner of the front flap. Spine panel of the jacket has a spot of rubbing wear about 1 inch long and 1.2 inch wide, a couple of scratch marks on the spine panel as well, spot of rubbing wear at the front panel on the bottom left about 1/2 inch long, back panel has some rubbing wear at the top edge, 1/2 inch closed tear at the top left edge. Coarse green cloth covered boards with the title in gold on the spine. Corners are not bumped or worn. Red top-stain has a spot of fading about 1 inch long and 1/2 inch wide - appears to be fading rather than a stain as the text pages are not at all affected. Text pages have age appropriate tanning and the edges are clean. Text block has a bump at the lower right corner - affecting pages 283 to 307 with a diagonal crease, see photos. Not a library discard copy. Binding is tight and square. Attached are some photos of the copy we have in our inventory.…
