Snagge, who was born in 1746, was an actor who played with Garrick at Drury Lane and later in Dublin. This narrative of his experiences throws light on the theatre of his time.

Early in youth he departed from the family traditions so far as to become an actor. He played with Garrick at Drury Lane and later with great success in Dublin.
