Dr. Georg Thilenius (1868-1937) was a German physician and anthropologist who was the director of the Hamburg Museum fur Volkerkunde from 1904 to 1935. After finishing this work he coordinated the 1908-1910 Sudsee-Expedition. A good set of the first edition. Sehr selten angeboten. Truk (heute Chuuk) ist ein inselreiches Atoll der Karolinen in Mikronesien. Die Karolinen waren u.a. deutsche Kolonie; auf Grund der relativ isolierten Lage und der großen Entfernungen zwischen den Inselgruppen wurden sie auch ziemlich lange von den schlimmsten Auswüchsen der Kolonisierung ( Entrechtung, Landkauf, Plantagenarbeit, Händler als Herren über die Inseln, Raub kultureller Güter, Entwurzelung) verschont, was die vielen wunderbaren und sehr besonderen Fotografien dieses Bandes teils wiederspiegeln können. Einer der umfangreichsten und best-ausgestattetsten Bände der "Ergebnisse der Südsee-Expedition 1908-1910.
