GENERAL LITTLE BLUE BOOK CONDITIONs : Pocket Series and Little Blue Books were issued using inexpensive materials and thus are almost always found with toned and faded paper. Other small defects such as slightly chipped corners, printer's smudges, and such are common. Any flaws beyond the normal for these will be detailed. Little Blue Books often did not have blue covers - or the blue has faded to gray. Please remember that vintage paper items are more fragile than their modern counterparts, and thus require proper care in handling. THIS COPY -- GOOD ONLY -- This is a previously owned book that remains clean and presentable. Weathering and light abrasion along the spine, small surface loss to top of spine; staple is corroded; front and rear covers are somewhat splotchy color-wise, and there is slight chipping to edges, as well a wee bit of staining at bottom front edge, and a small tear to top front edge - else clean with solid binding - no writing. and unmarked.

Baxter Jr., gospel music composer and publisher, was born on December 8, 1887, in Lebanon, Alabama. The "Sand Mountain native" was a prolific… song composer and co-founder of the Stamps-Baxter Music Company. He was known as "Pap" to his close friends. He learned the fundamentals of harmony and gospel music from T. B. Mosley and A. J. Showalter, and began teaching while he was still a student. He subsequently learned hymn writing from James Rowe, Charles H. Gabriel, and others. By 1943 he had composed more than 500 songs; by the time of his death his song lyrics numbered in the thousands. Several gospel quartets were named for him. As a publisher, he put out thousands of songs and sold hundreds of thousands of songbooks. Numerous singers and directors learned from him. In 1926 he and V. O. Stamps started the Stamps-Baxter Company, which had offices in Chattanooga, Tennessee; Jacksonville, Texas; and, later, Pangburn, Arkansas. Stamps-Baxter, which published hymnals and sponsored traveling quartets and radio programs, grew to be the world's largest gospel music business. After Stamps died in 1940 Baxter moved the business headquarters to Dallas and became president and general manager, a position he held until his death on January 21, 1960. He is an inductee of the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame, Texas Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and the Gospel Music Association's Hall of Fame .; composers include: J. R. Baxter, Jr. Albert E. ONE Magazine…was the first U.S. pro-gay publication, issued by ONE, Inc., an early gay-rights organization (itself an offshoot of the Mattachine Society), notable for admitting women as well as men into its ranks. The cover story for this issue was an anonymous interview conducted by Chuck Taylor entitled "The Successful Homosexual," projected to be the first in a series.
