The new yearbook is designed by Jayme Yen, former researcher in the Design department. The book contains an elaborate overview of the work carried out by the artists, designers and theoreticians in the academy in 2008. The various research projects / events deal with a wide range of burning issues, including 'authorship' and 'ideology critique', 'public space' and 'involvement'. The book concludes with a clarification of the academy's institutional policy. We hope that the yearbook reveals the pleasure with which the Jan van Eyck Academie interprets its motto: to give time and space to young makers artists, designers and theoreticians to work, experiment and develop within a multi-disciplinary and international institute, offering all the necessary, made-to-measure artistic as well as technical or auxiliary conditions.
