Contributions by the best-known modern poets include Patrick Kavanagh, Henry Miller, Alan Ross, Stevie Smith and RS Thomas. Includes a facsimile reproduction of Augustus John's poem "The Antiquary", three lithographs of TS Eliot's "Rhapsody on a Windy Night" by Gerald Wilde and eight drawings for "The Ancient Mariner" by Mervyn Peake. Introduction of 11 pages by the editor written in memory of Keith Douglas who was killed in action in 1944 including a black and white photographic illustration of him. Blue boards with gilt titles to spine; head and foot badly stained and foxed where the dust jacket has been trimmed. Endpapers grubby and foxed; small section of fep excised. Light foxing to external page-edges. Otherwise internally in very good condition. Dust jacket with its front pictorial cover by Gerald Wilde has been cut to the upper and lower section resulting in a small loss and which explains the discolouring of the exposed part of the boards. Remnants only of rear cover of dust jacket and spine has two sections missing also. Underside of dust jacket has been protected by a sheet of brown paper and the upper side has been protected by a cellophane cover held in place by a strip of red tape.

Condición: VG. NY 1956. Sm.4to., 88pp., original wraps with illustration by Calder. VG, small stain at lower corner of front and inital few leaves.

Illustrated by Henry Moore with the cover depicting further lyre bird sketches ( see Vol 2 No. 7 ), within there are small decorations by John Craxton. The covers are in a protective clear plastic jacket, and are clean and sound save a little edge wear in places. Staple binding rusted with a little staining, the contents remain clean and tight but detached from the covers. Good copy of a somewhat scarce and important literary review.

Illustrated by Henry Moore with the cover depicting his lyre bird sketches, and within there are 2 reproductions of underground shelter drawings accompanying a poem by Anne Ridler. The covers are in a protective clear plastic jacket, and although a little tanned with very minor marks from sometime removed paperclips to top edges of inside cover and front endpaper, are clean and sound. Staple binding are rusted with a little staining, and the contents are disbound from the covers but clean and sound. Good copy of a somewhat scarce and important literary review.

Collated, complete. Edited by Meary James Thurairajah Tambimuttu, a Tamil poet, editor, critic and publisher, who had significant influence in the literary scenes of London and New York City. In 1939, Tambimuttu founded the literary magazine Poetry London, to which many well-known writers contributed, including: Lawrence Durrell, Kathleen Raine, W. H. Auden, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Roy Campbell, Robin Skelton, and many others. The magazine showcased late modernist and American Beat poetry. In the original beige cloth binding. Externally, smart with light bumping to the extremities and the odd mark to the boards. Minor splits in the cloth to the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot or crease. Light spotting and minor age toning to the endpapers. Very Good. book.

Flexidisc absent, however Gouache of David Gascoyne's poem 'Inferno', painted for PL/Apple magazine by Graham Sutherland is laid in. Covers are slightly marked and sunned. Corners are a little bumped and rubbed. A few light marks on the page block. Binding is sound and pages are clear. LW. Used.
