They also have a direct impact on gender arrangements. In war, patriarchal social structures that have long since been overcome are quickly revitalised, or new role models, constellations and logics for women emerge out of necessityincluding new attitudes of feminists towards war. This volume on Imperial Powers and Women: Trauma, Resistance and Resilience contains papers presented at the International Conference of the ESWTR (2023) in Lviv. The articles encourage further reflection on whether it is ethically justified for women to participate in male-legitimised war violence to defend their own country from aggressors who inflict violence on women and children and, ultimately, society as a whole. This question poses a challenge for Christian women theologians who, in line with biblical texts feel deeply committed to pacifism and renounce violence. Against this backdrop, this volume provides insight into the different facets of the relationship between imperial powers and women, both past and present. How do they resist the violence of imperial powers? How do women deal with trauma? How do they develop resilience? And what does theology have to say about this? These articles encourage further reflection on whether it is ethically justified for women to participate in male-legitimised war violence to defend their own country from aggressors who inflict violence on women and children and, ultimately, society as a whole. Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Paperback. The Reformation has a far-reaching missionary dimension. Martin Luther, with his translation of the Bible, had not only contributed to thetranscription of the German language. He initiated a theological processof translation and transculturation of the Bible. Patriarchally-coinedcultural-historical and socio-political contexts have undergone atheological evaluation and have had a great effect in the history ofpolitical mission. The woman, ambivalently seen as the witch, the whoreand the saint, is reduced into a "Protestant serving-body" in thepatriarchal reference system. In the tension between exegesis andeisegesis, the Protestant-becoming monk transferred the Bible into theeveryday language of the German Middle Ages. As an agency-orientedmediator to use current day terminology he inscribed, in histranslation, his theology of Reformation. Oscillating between author andreader, source and target text, he gave the biblical word theinterpretation that he regarded as politically correct and theologicallyviable. The so-reformed Bible was an innovation for patriarchal Europeantheology and science, facilitating male progress in the form ofindividualism and national democracies and states. Protesting Catholicwomen theologians and Protestant-becoming nuns had no historicalopportunity. With the termination of monastic life in the ProtestantChurch, formal life options and education possibilities for women hadbecome restricted. That women could raise their voices as theologiansonly 500 years after Reformation is due not least to the fact that theReformation was not able to produce female evangelical theologians, norhad it wanted to, nor could it do so. This would change only with thetransformation in universities' politics in the 20th century. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

The challenges we want toshare are ones that we have encountered in our own practical andtheoretical work, and mostly challenges that each of us has noticed inherself. The bad news, so to speak, is that we believe that these arepitfalls that most of us fall into in some shape or form. The upside isthat for the majority of these challenges, the most crucial factor isawareness.
