Añadir al carritoSPIRAL-BOUND. Condición: VG. Light cover wear. Text free of underlining, writing and highlighting. Illustrated with many black-and-white photographs. Approx. 175 pp. (unpaginated). From the Foreword: Ahrens-Fox fans are legion in number and take second place to no other group of apparatus fanciers in their admiration and esteem for their favorite fire rigs. In view of the ardent interest in this fire engine manufacturer and its products it may seem strange that no one has as yet marketed a book on the subject, especially since it's safe to say that a good many Ahrens-Fox admirers have at one time or other considered that idea. After the lengthy period of time and effort expended in gathering material for this - what we believe is the first Ahrens-Fox book to see the light of day - we can easily see why no one has as yet outdistanced us in producing such a volume. Small wonder that other budding authors have become discouraged, in view of the scarcity of definitive information available to them on the subject of Ahrens-Fox. The tangled financial affairs and various merger manipulations of the latter years of this once flourishing industrial concern do not readily lend themselves as a source of accurate facts to be used in the composition of such a volume, but probably the most discouraging factor to the would-be author is the reluctance of the very few people who possess accurate information to share their knowledge with the many hundreds of Ahrens-Fox "buffs" who have long awaited a book on their favorite fire engine. You will note that the undersigned have chosen not to designate themselves as authors of this volume. Rather we prefer to be known as editors who have undertaken to assemble the collection of facts, anecdotes, and photographs found herein. We would be misrepresenting our book if we claimed for it the lofty pretension of being a definitive history. Yet it is something more than just a collection of photographs, for we believe that we have unearthed at least a few facts on Ahrens-Fox that have not attained wide circulation. At the same time we've assembled a series of short essays on this all-time favorite fire fighting apparatus that, while admittedly reflecting our own personal opinions, and those of other Ahrens-Fox enthusiasts, we hope will also shed some light on the rise and fall of this intriguing company that built the great front-mounted piston pumpers.
