Internally the book is in good clean condition throughout. There is a beautiful colour illustration of a young nomad boy by Alexandre Lacovleff. Altogether there are 6 colour illustrations including 3 maps. Many many black and white photographs an amazing picture of a time and a place now long gone. A superb account of the author's travels to the less accessible places of the earth over a 15 year period, among the Assamese headhunters, the tribes of Turkestan, the Lamas of Tibet, the Andamaese Pygmies and through Nepal, Chinese Turkestan (with the Roosevelt expedition of 1925), Galapagos, Burma, Nepal, Ethiopia, etc, with indexes of plants, birds and mammals encountered. The Fire Ox is from Tibetan chronology. An excellent and well-illustrated production. Frank Kingdon Ward was a member of the 1939 expedition to Burma. A picture of this book is available on request.
