"This volume contains details of 425 introduced species, each with a distribution map showing native and introduced range, and 215 line drawings. It brings together current scientific and historical information on birds which have been introduced, both successfully and unsuccessfully, throughout the world. As such, it is one of the few volumes available that deal with introduced bird species on a completely worldwide basis. Four hundred and twenty-five species of avifauna are covered, systematically arranged; provided in the book are a concise summary of the description of each bird, its native range, where it was introduced, why it was successful or unsuccessful, and its habits -- including status, habitat, gregariousness, movements, foods and breeding. The history of each introduction is traced in detail and notes are given on any damaged caused to both native and introduced habitats. Tables give additional summaries of each species, including dates, countries, and reasons for introduction where known.".
