Text / Sprache: Englisch , There was a horrified silence, then the farmer said, `Look, I don`t want to insult your girlfriend, but this is no job for a girl. When Susan Swaney set up a veterinary practice in western Victoria, she had more than a rugged climate to get used to. There was resistance because she was a woman, for one thing, and the hours spent lying in cold mud on her heavily pregnant belly, delivering calves, for another. No Job for a Girl is a diary of twelve months in Susan`s life as vet, farmer and mother. Some days there are temperamental ostriches, the inevitable lambing problems, and the odd ferret to deal with, in between breastfeeding her baby. On others it`s difficult to tell which is the problem - the animals or the people who own them. This is a frank and very funny account of the highs and lows of contemporary country and family life. It is also a tribute to the spirit of a rural community facing a crippling recession. 15129A ISBN 0869142372 Aufgrund der EU-Verpackungsverordnung (PPWR) erfolgt der Versand nur nach Deutschland und ins Nicht-EU-Ausland.
