Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. 1st edition, 1st printing. 296p. INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR TO NEW YORK TIMES EDITOR. A pale blue-grey cloth hardcover book in very good condition. Spine and edges faded; cloth and foredges foxed. Thin stain and a couple of tiny indentations in back cover. Otherwise, text unmarked and binding tight. Iphigene Ochs Sulzberger (1892-1990) was an American heiress and philanthropist whose husband was a longtime publisher of the New York Times. Sulberger herself became a co-trustee of the newspaper upon the death of her father, NYT owner Adolphe Ochs. This memoir, written with her granddaughter, is illustrated with a section of black and white photographs. This copy is warmly inscribed by Sulzberger to NYT editor Lawrence Hauck. Larry Hauck (1912-2000) started at the Times as a copy editor in 1948. By the 1960s he had worked his way up to assistant news editor, serving mainly as the overnight and weekend editor. He was promoted to full editor in 1976 and retired the following year. Signed.…

Añadir al carritoFirst Edition. First Edition, privately published, preceding the 1981 edition published by Dodd, Mead. INSCRIBED by Iphigene Ochs Sulzberger on the title page, "To Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. [Bruce] Gould / Warmest Regards from / Iphigene Ochs Sulzberger," with manuscript ink annotations of Bruce Gould's contact information on the front endpaper. Bruce Gould and his wife Beatrice Blackmar Gould were co-editors of the "Ladies Home Journal" from 1935 through 1962. It was under their leadership that the magazine became the top-selling women's magazine in the country for nearly 30 years, largely due to their efforts to modernize the journal and broaden its subject matter for the emancipated woman. The pair co-wrote the autobiography, "American Story: Memories and Reflections of Bruce Gould and Beatrice Blackmar Gould," published by Harper and Row in 1968. Very Good plus, with light toning to the spine and the top of the front and rear boards, with light foxing on the page edges. Signed.…
