Hardcover. Condición: Fair. Hardcover. Half-bound brown wood-like paper-covered boards with and white cloth-covered spine. Decorative white and green floral stamping on the front cover and spine. Deckled page edge. Paper at the corners has worn away; revealing boards beneath. Small white stain at the foot of the spine. Binding i…s square. Top page edge gilt. Stamping is eye catching. Handsomely illustrated endpapers. Front gutter is halfway torn at the foot; muslin is intact and strong. Front free endpaper is signed by Kate Seddon. No date on title page. Copyright page is dated 1902. 114 pages plus a two page index. Interiors are clean and unmarked. A fair copy. This book is from the Seddon family collection. James Seddon was a congressman from Virginia and then when Virginia seceded from the Union, he served as Secretary of War for the Confederacy. His wife was Sarah Bruce, daughter of one of the richest men in America. They lived at Sabot Hill, outside of Richmond. Their son Arthur married Josephine Venable. Josephine's sister was named Kate Venable and she married Alexander Hamilton (not the famous one). Josephine and Arthur had a son named Kate, as well. This book and the others listed beside it came from Sabot Hill, which burned down after WWI.
