He wrote the biography of Elon Musk, titled Elon Musk: Tesla, Spa…ceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future, Vance wrote for The Register from March 2003 to August 2008. He has continued to actively produce television, including the 2017 remake of One Day at a Time and the Netflix revival of Good Times in 2022. Lear has received many awards, including six Primetime Emmys, two Peabody Awards, the National Medal of Arts in 1999, the Kennedy Center Honors in 2017, and the Golden Globe Carol Burnett Award in 2021. He is a member of the Television Academy Hall of Fame. Lear is also known for his political activism and funding of liberal and progressive causes and politicians.
