From the DJ flap, "The oldest church in Pulaski County, Kentucky, is celebrating its 200th birthday. The Flat Lick Baptist Church, located ten miles east of Somerset in the Valley Oak community, is referred to by Baptists in Pulaski County as their 'Mother Church.' It was constituted January 26, 1799, and stands as one of the oldest churches not only in Kentucky but also in the entire south. To commemorate its bicentennial, the storied history of the church has been written by Murrell Stewart and the church's history committee. Using still-extant records, Stewart and his associates have pieced together a thorough recounting of the growth of the church, going back as far as the late eighteenth century. Accompanying the text are more than 50 photographs, some at least 100 years old." Scarce.
