Just a couple of minor dings around the extremities, covers clean and bright, shadow transfer from dust jacket to endpapers, all color drawings in fine condition, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. Dust jacket somewhat soiled and rubbed along the spine and the edges of the turn-ins. Per the dust jacket, this book contains descriptions and color images of 101 of the most popular garden flowers. Will. H. Stevens (1881 - 1949) was an American modernist painter and naturalist who is known for his paintings and tonal pastels, which are held in several major American art museums. Unlike many of his contemporaries who traveled and studied in the Art Centers of Europe, Stevens never felt the need to leave the United States. He began by painting the hills and valleys along the Ohio River near Vevay. As he moved South he painted the mountains of Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina. Later in New Orleans he painted the Bayou Country in Louisiana, but it was the mountains and their people that made the biggest impact and continued to dominate his work for his entire life." Good (some minor shelfwear, stain on back cover, continues onto inner page edges but is slight).
