Ambraser Sammlung und unternahm mehrere archäologische Reisen, "von allen mit mehr oder weniger Ausbeute für das seiner Leitung anvertraute Cabinet heimkehrend" (Wurzbach XXXVIII, 55). - Die Verso-Seite von Bl. 4 der Spesenabrechnung mit einem mehrzeiligen eh. und unterzeichneten Vermerk des im Jahr darauf verstorbenen Staatskanzleirates und Registraturdirektors Franz Anton von Kesaer: "Da Se. M. der Staatskancley blos aufgetragen haben, den H. v. Steinbüchel nach Paris und zurück zu befördern, so kann demselben die von Paris nach London gemachte Reise aus der hierortigen Kassa nicht vergütet werden". - Der auf einem Folio-Bl. verfaßte Brief an den Ränden stärker angestaubt und etwas lappig.
