Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good dj. First Edition. [a nice clean copy with no discernible wear, just a touch of age-toning to the edges of the text block; the jacket has a couple of insect-nibbled small holes at the edges and a short closed tear at the top of the front panel, and is lightly sun-tanned along the spine]. (B&W photographs) Musical comedy about a couple of Broadway sophisticates who travel to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, to close a real estate deal, and find themselves thoroughly involved with the local Amish folk. The original Broadway production ran for over a year (461 performances). This was a review copy, and has the original publisher's slip laid in; although not marked as such, it comes from the collection of longtime New York Times film critic Bosley Crowther.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near Fine. First Printing. Near Fine in a Near Fine dustjacket. The faults this copy has stem mainly from the dustjacket having been placed in one of those early sleeves with the black edges. The book has some of this black bottom edge of boards and pastedowns. Dustjacket has small black spot at head of spine and bottom edge of rear flap. Dustjacket also has a small crease at bottom edge of front panel. Still, a presentible copy of this wonderful musical, adapted from the novel " Zorba the Greek" by Nikos Kazantzakis.

Añadir al carritoOriginal playbill of this classic play. Octavo, original illustrated wrappers as issued. Presentation copy, inscribed by the lyricist Sheldon Harnick on the front panel, "For Peter: Sheldon Harnick 12/16/15." In near fine condition. Fiddler on the Roof is a musical with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, set in the Pale of Settlement of Imperial Russia in 1905. It is based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Dairyman) and other tales by Sholem Aleichem. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural traditions as outside influences encroach upon the family's lives. He must cope both with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters, who wish to marry for love â" each one's choice of a husband moves further away from the customs of their Jewish faith and heritage â" and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village. The original Broadway production of the show, which opened in 1964, had the first musical theatre run in history to surpass 3,000 performances. Fiddler held the record for the longest-running Broadway musical for almost 10 years until Grease surpassed its run. It remains the seventeenth longest-running show in Broadway history. The production was extraordinarily profitable and highly acclaimed. It won nine Tony Awards, including best musical, score, book, direction and choreography. It spawned five Broadway revivals and a highly successful 1971 film adaptation and has enjoyed enduring international popularity. It has also been a popular choice for school and community productions.
