Spitaels, s.d (before April 1888 according a private note on the fly leaf), format in-16°, 88 x 58 mm, (2) nn pp (steelengraved frontipiece) + 288 pp.: BINDING : Bound in a papier maché binding, black coloured, front cover depicts the virgin Mary on an altar, a women with a rosery kneels before the statue with a working gilt clasp. All edges gilt. White silky paper endleaves. Private entry in manuscript (dated 1888) on the first paste down, ; in faultless state of preservation.Allthough these kind of Roman Catholic devotional books were quite common in the second half of the 19th c. it is quite unique to come across such a nicely preserved copy in a very rare papier maché binding.…

Some wear but a good copy.…
