Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is a fantastical collection of seven short stories where anything canâ"and doesâ"happen. The children at the heart of these tales escape their humdrum lives by slipping into wondrous realms where they experience astonishing adventures with a Wizard, a Santa Claus who likes a tipple, a mysterious Bird-Fairy, and more. The author draws on the long history of classic children's stories, reimagining familiar themes and adding a dash of the unexpected. Fairy-tales meet the real world, and the mundane and magical coexist harmoniously. The stories often start with a problemâ"a dull day, a lost object, a quarrel with a siblingâ"but the children are soon whisked off on adventures that help them understand the world and grow as people. Each adventure is paced to perfection, with rich and vivid description and a touch of the absurd. The author's distinctive voice and imagination shine throughout, transporting readers to a world where children are free to dream and wonder, to challenge authority, and to learn that the biggest adventures are often found in the most unexpected places.
