Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book presents an insider's perspective on the horrors of the Thirty Years' War in Germany (1618-1648) from the unique vantage point of a rural pastor, the author. Through the eyes of Pastor Johannes Gerbinus, readers will witness the brutal realities of war and occupation in the countryside, where civilians were frequently caught between the warring factions. The author meticulously recorded the hardships endured by his parishioners, including forced billeting of enemy troops, exorbitant taxation, and the constant threat of violence. Gerbinus also provides valuable insights into the religious and social tensions of the period, as well as the devastating impact of the war on the local economy and infrastructure. Despite the hardships he endured, Gerbinus remained a steadfast advocate for peace and reconciliation, and his chronicle serves as a poignant reminder of the human cost of war. Through his detailed accounts, readers gain a deep appreciation for the resilience and suffering of ordinary people during one of the most destructive conflicts in European history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
