Even the title is a sign of the moment; in 1932, the Republican Party tried to convince people that, no matter what they saw around them, the Depression was already in the past, putting ?Wasn?t the depression terrible?? in big letters in newspaper ads and on billboards along commuter corridors in the northeast. This Soglow work is printed in an orange-red ink which reveals a second image when viewed through a red cellophane filter (one sheet included in a front pocket). The book has a small narrow strip of discoloration on the edge of the back cover caused by the dust jacket sticking from moisture. The dust jacket is in fair condition with a medium missing bit on the lower spine extending to the back of jacket. Jacket has other stains, small tears and creases but is worth keeping for the cover image which is complete. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall.
