Amsterdam (Amstelaedami), Ex Officina Hadriani Schoonebeek, 1695, 8vo., full parchment spitsel binding with handwritten title on spine and sprinkled edges, [16]+240+[16] pp., margins around the frontispiece are damaged, there are some (water)stains, but otherwise in good condition, with 60 engravings (22, 24 and 59 show some handcolouring), an engraved frontispiece (Schoonebeek del et fec), an engraved printer's mark (Viresque Acquirit Eundo) and an engraved portrait (Labor Omnia Vincit). Schoonebeek (1661-1705), the illustrator and publisher, was a pupil of Romeyn de Hooghe. When leafing through this book one notices that a few pages feel thicker than others. On closer inspection it becomes clear that in this copy some illustrations were printed on the wrong page. This problem was solved by pasting the right illustration over the incorrectly placed illustration. In some places the corners curl up and the illustration underneath is partly visible. See pp. 11, 15, 99 and 103. With ex libris (De Lint), and - as noted in pencil - from the collection of Jelle Kaspersma and Alie Vinke (25 mei 2018).
