Ink annotations to List of Portraits indicating killed, prisoners of war, missing, or off flying due to injuries. Pencil annotations to portrait margins with rank, decorations, occasional 'shot down' and if 'bought it' or 'missing'. Fascinating historical document. Blue and beige cloth boards with white lettering to spine. Boards are marked and generally grubby. Corners are bumped. Top right corner of rear board is bent. Slight wear to board edges. Spine has mild bumping to top and bottom. Endpages are a little grubby. Front inner hinge is starting to crack. Rear inner hinge is starting to crack. Textblock is just starting to give. Textblock has one or two grubby marks but is generally clean. 96 pp. 64 b/w illustrations. Beige paper dust jacket with yellow lettering to front. DJ is rather tatty, with quite a bit of loss. Spine area is missing. Rather grubby. Not priceclipped. When securely packed this item will weigh in the region of 613g. Hardcover. Condición: Good. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ is heavily toned with what appears to be water damage, resulting is a wrinkling of the paper. There is some staining/discoloration as well as general edge wear/chipping. DJ is now housed in a protective mylar cover. Book is bound in blue cloth over boards with gold lettering on the spine. Slight fading to the spine, cloth is otherwise in good condition. Binding is tight and secure. Corners are square. Black top-stain has faded slightly. Small stamp to fore edge and title page reads "W. B. Salmon". Previous owners bookplate attached to the FAEP. Previous owner name written in green on the FFEP. Pages are toned throughout, with very sparse pencil annotations to the first 45 pages. Three tipped-in, fold-out maps mentioned in the table of contents are present and in excellent condition with only toning to note. Large map titled "Western Theatre of War" housed in pocket attached to the RAEP, again in excellent condition with the exception of toning. Oxford University Press. Title page dated 1936. No apparent copyright information. 231 pages. A good copy. This volume comes from the Aviation collection of Prof. Chris Sterling.
