This catalogue was produced to accompany the exhibtion of papers, photographs, sketches and collages allegedly given by Francis Bacon to his friend Barry Joule just a few days before he died in 1992. The papers were controversial as during his lifetime Bacon always said that he did not draw, making attribution difficult. However, if officially recognised, the papers would revolutionise the understanding of Bacon's work.
