Nothing could be lovelier than a traditional Swedish table or a decoratively shaped mirror frame. Their balanced forms and simple finish have a timeless elegance that suits both modern and traditional homes. The 35 woodworking projects in this book come directly from SwedenÆs past, and the original pieces can be seen in famous Swedish museums. Many of the pieces evoke familiar early American styles, but with a distinctive Swedish touch. The projects include small and easy-to-make things such as a plate rack, childÆs stool, tray, and simple cutting boards. Others are larger and more challenging, like the stepladder. Each piece is photographed and every detail is accuarately described. Step-by step instructions and expertly drawn how-to diagrams are given for every project. There are also instructions for traditional Swedish finishing, painting and staining methods., English, Year1990, Illust. B/W143, Illust. Color, ISBN 0881790230, Code 5406. Historic buildings that stand empty have been a source of fascination to people since time immemorial. This is certainly true of L?ck÷ Castle. Time seems to have stood still here since Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie was compelled to return his property to the Swedish Crown in 1681. Today the castle has once again been furnished with authentic 17th century objects to recreate a picture of a noblemanÆs home. This lavishly illustrated book provides an introduction to both the furnishings and the interior decoration at L?ck÷ Castle and an invaluable insight into the splendour of the Swedish Baroque., English, Year2001, Illust. A picture book that captures the splendor of this castle during the 1600s. Stunning photographs display both the beauty of the empty castle rooms while also conjuring the former grandeur of these rooms by including examples of furniture and textiles from that period. Though the furniture was often simple in design, the elaborate textiles and decorative arts offset this simplicity to create a perfectly balanced elegance not to be rivaled elsewhere. This book is intended to complete this picture as the refurnishing of the L?ck÷ Castle has begun with this exhibition. The catalog also includes an inventory of the art belonging to Duke Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie from 1681., Swedish, Year1998, Illust. B/W1, Illust. Color58, ISBN 9163071010, Code 3796.
