Robert Silvers…, formerly the managing editor of the Paris Review, translated this work for Lyle Stuart, known for publishing books "that other publishers hesitate to publish" (from the publisher's introduction). Silvers was a founding editor of the New York Review of Books and considered the journal's advocacy of human rights issues as one of its chief accomplishments.
