Cardozo was a justice of the New York Supreme Court from 1914 to 1917, an associate judge of the New York Court of Appeals from 1917 to 1926, chief judge of that court from 1926 to 1932 and an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1932 until his death.
