Push pin holes in each corner, otherwise in fine conditions. Edith Norma Shearer was a Canadian-American actress who was active on film from 1919 through 1942. Shearer often played spunky, sexually liberated women. She appeared in adaptations of Noel Coward, Eugene O'Neill, and William Shakespeare, and was the first five-time Academy Award acting nominee, was nominated six times in all, and won one for Best Actress for The Divorcee (1930).

Based on the 1914 Russian play by Leonid Andreyev, first published in English in 1922. The first film put into production under the newly formed Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and the first to feature Leo the Lion, although it was not the first film released by the studio. The second film directed by Sjostrom, known as "the father of Swedish cinema," after his move to Hollywood at the behest of Louis B. Mayer, and a breakthrough picture for him, as well as stars Chaney, Shearer, and Gilbert. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus.

Añadir al carritoVintage photograph of actress Norma Shearer and her husband, MGM producer Irving Thalberg, aboard a ship traveling to Europe, circa 1930. Mimeo snipe in French on the verso. In 1923, Thalberg, then a producer at Louis B. Mayer Pictures, invited Shearer to come sign with the studio. After four years working together the pair would marry, purportedly attributable to Shearer's determination to win Thalberg's heart. The couple would remain married until Thalberg's unexpected death of pneumonia in 1936, at the age of 37. 7.5 x 9.5 inches. Lightly age toned, else Near Fine.
