Two veterans of the Goldrush recall the hardships and humor of an 1849 holiday in this reprint of personal interviews from The San Francisco CallDecember 19, 1909. Illustrated throughout with lithographed "Letter Sheets" from the Society's collection, which served as the illustrated post cards of the day.

Hardcover w/ Jacket. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. This 6.5 x 7.75 33-page book is in near fine condition. The green cloth covering shows virtually no wear whatsoever with just the two bottom corners showing just a very small touch of whiteness at all. The interior of the book has a penciled notation on the ffep but beyond that the text is in fine condition. The book was published by the California Historical Society in San Francisco in 1959 and was designed and printed by the noted bookman Laughton Kennedy. The dust wrapper does show some age. The paper is thin and shows some chipping along the top and bottom margins of the wrapper. There are tears and small pieces missing in spots and a two-inch tear along the rear panel's fold. There is some sun fading to the spine and front panel but all in all the jacket is fully intact and in nice condition. 33 pages.
