'Alles was die ärztlichen Generationen an Augenärzten zählt ist durch Desmarres Klinik gegangen, darunter der berühmteste, Albrecht von Graefe.' Hirschberg, 591 u. 593 'Er hat das Verdienst, in der Ophthalmologie richtigere chirurgische Principien . eingeführt zu haben, indem er zeigte, was an chirurgischen Eingriffen, selbst bei ambulanter Behandlung, auch dem Auge geboten werden kann.'
