Over the course of seven years, a well-respected team of adventurers has embarked on scores of not-quite-legal investigations inside, below, and above the city's hidden infrastructures. Their first book published by Prestel, Subterranean London: Cracking the Capital, took readers under the city. Now, they reveal the results of their expeditions scaling the city's heights. Jaw-dropping photographs offer extraordinary views from vantage points that most of us will never reach. Divided into thematic chapters, the book offers personal accounts of various excursions, including travels up freestanding masts, pylons, and chimneys; the tops of public spaces such as the Barbican Centre and the British Museum; voyeuristic glimpses over the rooftop gardens of the rich and famous; and the heights of London "starchitecture": the Gherkin, the Shard, and the Walkie-Talkie. Each chapter includes a new artwork by illustrator Lizzie Mary Cullen, who specializes in urban psycho-cartography. This London urban exploration crew's exploits in procuring these photos have received extensive coverage in the worldwide press.Readers will enjoy these indefatigable explorers' quest to make their native city both known and accessible to anyone who shares their curiosity.

Inscribed by the author inside the front cover. Inscription reads: James & Chris, To thank you for your great hospitality, and many kindnesses, and for the very happy memories of your lovely home, wonderful cooking--and of Doves, Holland & Hollands, Laughter and many other pleasures: soft crab & swordfish stake included! Arthur [Sept 18th/20th 1987]. In the author's hand on the fep is written Author's Copy 15/11/83. This book includes a New Foreword, as well as chapters on Whispering Wings; The Call of the Gun; The End of the Journey; Luck; Greenland Whitefronts; Odd Flights; Shooting Dogs; The Best Dog in the World; Picking Wounded Birds; Fox and Goose; Letters to Fred Clay; Curious Incident; Some Hints, and On Keeping Wildfowl. Arthur Cadman was an expert on British deer and wildfowl, and the author of such books as Tales of a Wildfowler (1957), Shouldergunning for Duck (1963), and Dawn, Dusk and Deer (1966). Sir Peter Markham Scott, CH, CBE, DSC & Bar, FRS, FZS (14 September 1909 - 29 August 1989) was a British ornithologist, conservationist, painter, naval officer, broadcaster and sportsman. The only child of Antarctic explorer Robert Falcon Scott, he took an interest in observing and shooting wildfowl at a young age and later took to their breeding. He established the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust in Slimbridge in 1946 and helped found the World Wide Fund for Nature, the logo of which he designed. He was part of the UK team for the 1936 Summer Olympics and won a bronze medal in the sailing event. The author is one of the most respected authorities on both wildfowling and row stalking, with a multitude of articles in many sporting periodicals and books to his credit. Among the latter are "Shouldergunning for Duck" and "Goose Shooting", both published in 1963, and "A Guide to Roughshooting" was published in 1974. This is Arthur Cadman's well-thought of account of his long career in pursuit of goose, duck and waders. Cadman was an ornithologist and enthusiastic wildfowler. He spent 25 years as an officer of the Forestry Commission, and the last 10 years of his career were spent in charge of the New Forest and forests on the Isle of Wright. Here he relates the extensive time he spent in marshes and mud flats pursuing ducks and geese. Well-written and marvelously illustrated by Sir Peter Scott. Later Edition, Likely first edition and first printing from this Publisher.
