Inside clean copy. - Invloedrijk geschrift waarin de verlichte Nederlandse rechtsgeleerde en publicist Willem Schorer (1733-1783) een fundamentele kritiek formuleert op de achttiende-eeuwse Nederlandse rechtsorde. Hij betoogt dat het geldende recht geen logisch en coherent systeem vormt, maar een onoverzichtelijke verzameling van Romeins recht, oud-vaderlands gewoonterecht, stedelijke keuren, provinciale ordonnanties en rechterlijke praktijk. Deze rechtspluraliteit leidt volgens Schorer tot rechtsonzekerheid, langdurige procedures en ongelijke rechtsbedeling. Hij pleit voor een systematische herziening van het recht, grotere toegankelijkheid van wetgeving en een rationeler juridische methode.
