Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is a thorough history of the 102nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry, following the regiment from its recruitment in 1862, through its service in various battles during the Civil War, to its eventual mustering out in 1865. The author draws on a rich array of sources, including muster r…olls, regimental correspondence, and veteransâ accounts, to provide a comprehensive and engaging account of this regimentâs experience during the Civil War. The book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of the Civil War, and particularly for those interested in the role of Ohio regiments in the conflict. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Schmutz's history contains " a complete Roster of the Regiment; a history of each company as far as it can be obtained; a history of the Medical Department; a history of the Quartermaster's Department, and reminiscences by many comrades." The original soft covers are not… present and the previous owner had the book professionally hard bound. The owner (my Grandfather) was from Perrysville, Ohio and his grandfather had served with the 102d and was captured in 1864. He was incarcerated at Cahaba prisoner and was a survivor of the Sultana disaster. My grandfather made notation throughout where there are names listed. Next to a name he would note the city the individual came from. For example: William A. Traxler, 1st Sargent, 26. Aug. 9, '62; was captured Sept. 64, in action at Athens, Ala, exchanged April 22, '65, perished by explosion of the steamer Sultana on the Mississippi River, near Memphis, Tenn., April 27, '65." My grand father crossed out (lightly) that Traxler had died aboard the Sultana and made the notation that Traxler was "not not aboard the Sultana." The owner made the following notation on the front end page in light pencil: "This is a very rare Regimental History. A recent bibliography published by the New York Public Library lists only one copy - in the Library of Congress." This note was dated 3 March 1965. Obviously there have been other copies that have surfaced in the 50 years since the owner made these notes; still, it is a very scarce regimental history. This is a very nice copy that has been expertly restored.
