Añadir al carritoGood. Beautiful old color. Even overall toning. Closed 1 inch tear along lower pressmark professionally repaired on verso. Two wormholes: one in the sky above London on the left and one near the bottom border on the right in the Thames. Neither is particularly noticeable in person. Generous margins. Size 10.25 x 15.5 Inches. This is a charming 1751 Thomas Bowles and Robert Sayer bird's-eye view of London as the beating heart of a global empire. A Closer Look The view looks eastward, up the Thames, from a high point roughly matching the modern-day Tower Bridge. The Thames River divides the city nearly in two and acts as the view's focal point. Ships of varying sizes fill the river, underscoring its importance to London's economy. The Tower of London appears in the foreground along the right border, and St. Paul's Cathedral is prominent just right of the center. London Bridge traverses the Thames with its iconic buildings wonderfully illustrated. Church spires and Nelson's Column tower over London, dotting the city with high points. Westminster Abbey in the background near the left border. Publication History and Census This view was drawn and engraved by Thomas Bowles and published by Robert Sayer in 1751.
