"Saubermann was a natural communicator with an eye for popular science: he filled his treatises with scientific drawings, long-winded explanations of how radium water treatments worked, and over-the-top claims. His books featured illustrations of the Activator alongside other products including Radium Gloves, Radioactive Earth (a type of mud treatment that came in a tin) and a radium compress treatment which was designed to be held against the body. Radium Ltd also sold a handy smaller version of the Saubermann Activator for patients to take with them when they were travelling.
