The couple's profiles are shown in gilt on the front board. Two-page preface by Walter Crane, dated London, 1890. Russell was influenced by Oscar Wilde, who had brought aestheticicsm to the US on his celebrated tour. In turn, the Russells brought American Delsarteism to England, where it enjoyed a vogue in the late 1880s and 1890s. Near fine copy with a bit of rubbing to the base of the spine.
