There is a closed tear to the front board which has been repaired to the inverse. To the binding, there is some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the odd spot. Very Good Indeed. book.

An excellent example of a very rare book by the woman who was to go on and marry the actor Alec Guiness. The story is a fantasy about two little boys who buy a house in the forest ( how did they afford the deposit?) - and try to live there. They are 'forced' to eat wild animal stew! Tiring of housework they advertise for a little girl to come and help them, so un PC. it was a different age! They throw a party and a variety of magical folk turn up including a giant who kidnaps one of them. He is, of course rescued by his friend in a violent confrontation. A bit of an oddity all round. Very rare and even rarer in a jacket. Jacket now in acetate sleeve [removeable].
