Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near Fine. Josephine Sacabo (photographer) Ilustrador. First edition thus. Rulfo's timeless novel has a first line that every Mexican student of literature must know by heart: "I came to Comala because I had been told that my father, a man named Pedro Páramo, lived there". First published in Mexico in 1955, and first translated into English by Lysander Kemp in 1959, this edition uses the translation by Margaret Sayers Peden (Grove Press, 1994). The novel was recently (2024) made into a Netflix film, directed by Rodrigo Prieto. This beautiful edition from the University of Texas Press is in their Wittliff Gallery Series, highlighting Southwestern and Mexican photography under the editorship of Bill Wittliff. It's a large format hardcover in which the novel is accompanied by 50 art photographs that pay homage to the story and its setting. Attractively bound in blood red Saifu cloth, the book had a print run of 3,200 copies. There seems to be a remainder mark to the top edges close to the spine, and there is barely a hint of yellowing to edges of textblock, otherwise a fine copy in a near fine dust jacket that has some fading to the front panel. MC.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: New. Limited Edition. Book condition is new, purchased directly from the publisher when it was published. Opened once for inspection. Still in publisher original shipping box. Beautifully hand crafted book The Duino Elegies. Photographs by Josephine Sacabo. Poems by Rainer Maria Rilke. Translated by Leslie Norris & Alan Keele. Introduction by John Wood.Edition: 60 numbered copies, this one is number 26. 10 bound, plus 1 free-standing suitable for framing, fully signed silver gelatin prints 16 x 13 1/2 inches. Handcrafted in New England. From the publisher: ".I have heard more people than I can recall describe their first experience of seeing a Josephine Sacabo image. They say things like "I loved it" or "I just had to have it." I remember my own experience on first seeing one of her works; it was like an electrical charge rising out of the image and directly striking me. I thought, "I want to be able to look at this image every day for the rest of my life." Our inarticulate attempts to describe the effect of her work is the result of having confronted Sacabo's duende, having been brought close to the precipice, and having felt, in the words of Spain's great poet Lorca, that "jet of blood worthy of her pain and her sincerity".that the duende inspired. -John Wood".
