Fine gray cloth-covered boards, with title stamped in silver on cover and spine, no dust jacket as issued; contained in a heavy gray cardboard slipcase with title stamped in silver on both sides. Paintings and text by Edward Ruscha. Essays by Robert Dean, Dave Hickey and Larence Weiner. Edited by Robert Dean, with Erin Wright. Includes comprehensive catalogue entries, chronology, exhibition history and bibliography. Designed by Bruce Mau, Bruce Mau Design, Inc., Toronto, with Breanne Woods, Carolina Söderholm and Judith McKay. 564 pp., including 3 two-page gatefolds, profusely illustrated with four-color plates and additional black-and-white reference illustrations, beautifully printed by Steidl on Scheufelen Job Parilux paper. Book 11-5/8 x 9-5/8 inches; slipcase 12-1/8 x 10 inches. Fine. From the publisher: "This is the third volume in the ongoing series documenting Ruscha's entire corpus of paintings. As in the previous two volumes, each painting is given a double-page spread with exhibition and bibliographic history, and is reproduced in color. The artist's notebook sketches for paintings are reproduced in facsimile. This volume contains 165 paintings and, in addition, includes a major public commission for the Philip Johnson-designed Miami-Dade Public Library, which was a watershed mark for Ruscha. Paintings done immediately prior to this commission can be seen as a summation of the artist's earlier preoccupations and techniques, while those done after the commission show a major shift in Ruscha's direction occasioned by the artist's use of airbrush techniques to produce dark, atmospheric canvases that correspond to film noir and such Los Angeles writers as Raymond Chandler. The book includes an introductory essay by the editor, Robert Dean, and a personal tribute by artist Lawrence Weiner. It contains a chronology to 1987, as well as a comprehensive bibliography and list of exhibitions.".

Añadir al carritosonst. Bücher. Condición: Neu. Neuware - Volume Seven of the Edward Ruscha Catalogue Raisonné of the Paintings, covering the years 2004 to 2011, comprises 230 paintings and studies that are reproduced in color and accompanied by detailed exhibition and bibliographic histories. The work of this period extends various earlier series, including Ruscha's 'mountain' paintings, a number of which now incorporate texts from Jack Kerouac's novel On the Road. Other important works take decay, waste and retrieval, and the passage of time as themes, notably the 'Course of Empire' series (Ruscha's contribution to the 51st Venice Biennale) and the 'Psycho Spaghetti Western' paintings. This 550-page volume, co-published by Gagosian Gallery, is edited by Robert Dean with Lisa Turvey and contains essays by Thierry de Duve and Linda Norden.

Format in-4° ------ 533 pages . ********************* ""This volume covers six years, from 2005 - 2010, in which Baldessari created a total of 361 unique works-comprising eight discrete series, most with multiple parts or, to borrow a musical phrase, "movements." The majority of the works from this period have as their subject the face and body: noses, ears, arms, legs, elbows, knees, eyes, eyebrows, foreheads, hands, and feet. We might entertain this as the artist finally revealing to the viewer what he previously had taken such great pains to conceal and obscure with his trademark colored disks and erasures. Perhaps this is partly true, but since his earliest days as an artist, Baldessari has never felt comfortable providing the viewer with the full picture. "" ********************* ref fav-08-75379.
