Something of me, Love, Pat'). From the dust jacket: 'Think of this: last night's stranger could be tomorrow's husband, wife, lover. On the other hand, last night's husband, wife, lover could soon become tomorrow's stranger. The twenty-five's short stories collected in this anthology are not only of one night stands. But of people passing through, moving in and out of each other's lives. Loving and leaving. Dying, good-byeing. Night-time slidings-by, marriages finished and love gone, life giving up life.' (That may not have been the best quote to sell the book!). Anyway, look at the writers. They include Gail Goodwin, Raymond Carver (sounds like all his stories), John Irving, Richard Ford, Joyce Carol Oates, and many others. And, the book is in very nice condition. Take a look at the photos. The covers are exceptionally clean and pretty much free of any wear (there's a dark spot on the bottom edge of the rear cover). The only shortcoming involves the top and middle page edges which have a fair amount of dust staining. More positively, the actual pages are not affected. They are exceptionally clean and quite bright. I'm not seeing any soiling on them. However, I would note that as you turn the pages you can see the stained middle page edge off to the side. Another positive, the book is square and very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout. The inside covers and end papers are a light brown. They are perfectly clean and evidence no wear. There is no spotting/foxing on any page in the book. Nor are there any markings. Nor are there any attachments of any kind. And with the exception of the editor's signed inscription, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It's quite clean. The spine is likely faded, probably started out as orange and is now yellow. The jacket comes close to being in excellent shape, but there is a small hole on the rear cover (fourth photo) just adjacent to its middle edge. The flaps are in very good condition, just a little toning off the top edges. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. It will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. Inscribed by Author(s).
