All edges gilt. 203 pages. With 72 illustrations throughout. Reprint edition (1884), originally published 1882. The poets selected are predominately British and male ranging from Spenser, Shakespeare and Milton to a heavier concentration of 19th century Romantics [Wordsworth, Byron, Shelley, Coleridge and Keats] and others [Scott, Tennyson, Browning, Arnold, et alia]. Several American selections include poems by Bryant, Poe, Lowell and Holmes. No previous ownership marks. Abrasion to cloth at fore-edges of both boards, heavier on upper cover and very mild foxing to prelims and title.
