Amedeo Modigliani [1884-1920], is among the most readily recognized of modern artists. Studying in Florence he was influenced by the Renaissance masters. He then moved to Paris where he was influenced by Cezanne, Picasso, Cocteau, Constantin Brancusi and African sculpture, he developed his simplified, elongated figures. Each of the 60 color and 4 b/w pages of plates are truly evocative of this artist's unique style, who tragically died in his mid thirties, in the midst of his still fruitful and evolving style. Oversized. ; Gramercy Great Masters Series Series; Remainder; B&W & Color Illustrations; 4to, 8 x 11; 91 pages.
