In den zwanziger Jahren initiierte er gemeinsam mit Ludwig Steinmetz und Ludwig Sandow die künstlerische Propagandavereinigung mit Aktionsbühne "Der Bücherkasten". Nach der Machtübernahme der Nationalsozialisten 1938 wurde Rochowanski mit Publikationsverbot belegt; nach dem Krieg war er Herausgeber des im eigenen Verlag veröffentlichten "Agathon Almanachs" (1946-48) und bis zu seinem Tod Kritiker bei verschiedenen Tageszeitungen.
