Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Man Ray (1890-1976) occupies a prominent place in 20th century art history. A versatile artist, he was a pioneer of modern art. His polymorphic work crosses all fields visuals: photography, assemblage, sculpture, painting, drawing, film.Man Ray arrived from New York in Paris in July 1921. Born in Philadelphia in 1890, of Jewish parents of Russian origin, Emmanuel Radintsky took a two-syllable pseudonym: "Man", man (short for Manny, his childhood nickname) and "Ray", the ray of light. Painter, draftsman, assembler of objects, in New York he frequents intellectual and artistic circles, discovers the European avant-gardes with his first wife who makes him discover French literature. He became friends with Marcel Duchamp, with whom he collaborates for artistic creations. This friendship will last all their lives. In connection with the movement European Dada, they publish the only issue of New York Dada, which attracted very little attention. Disappointed and disillusioned, Man Ray concludes that "Dada cannot live in New York". He only has one objective: to join Duchamp who has just returned to Paris.

Añadir al carritoHardback. Condición: New. Illustrated - Bilingual. A visionary and multifaceted artist, Man Ray is a leading figure in 20th-century art history. Photographer, painter, draftsman, filmmaker, and object-maker defined by rare creative freedom, he turned every medium into a field of experimentation.Born Emmanuel Radnitzky in Philadelphia in 1890, he soon immersed himself in New York's avant-garde scene, where he met and formed a close bond with Marcel Duchamp, eventually joining him in Paris in 1921. There, he became a key player in the Dada, then Surrealist movements. He revolutionised photography, elevating it to a full-fledged art form, with iconic works like Le Violon d'Ingres and Noire et blanche. The formal audacity and poetic visual language he brought to fashion photography continue to inspire creatives to this day. A tireless experimenter, he invented "rayographs", rediscovered solarisation and as an avant-garde filmmaker he transformed the image into pure sensation.Man Ray embodies the free, transgressive, and elusive artist. His body of work, imbued with humour, strangeness, and eroticism, defies categorisation and celebrates the power of imagination.Includes texts by: Robert Rocca, Pierre-Yves Butzbach, Raffaella Perna.Text in English and Italian.

Évian-Les-Bains, Palais Lumière, July 1 - November 5, 2023.Edited by Rocca R. and Butzbach P.English Text.Cinisello Balsamo, 2023; paperback, pp. 232, 220 b/w ill., cm 24,5x30. Artista versatile, è meglio conosciuto come fotografo. Libro.
