Añadir al carritoSoft Flex Covers w Cloth Spine. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: No Dust Jacket. Fully Illustrated Ilustrador. Modern reprint, no edition stated. 110 pages. Softcover facsimile edition with glossy card covers and cloth binding. Very good or better condition with only slight wear to edges. Fine heritage facsimile reproduction of the famous 1812 London botanical masterpiece by Robert John Thornton. Contains 32 full color botanical plates together with decorative title pages and additional black and white illustrations reproducing the celebrated Romantic era engravings. Thornton's Temple of Flora is widely regarded as one of the most ambitious and visually striking botanical works of the nineteenth century, combining science, poetry, philosophy, and dramatic landscape settings surrounding stylized flower portraits. The plates feature notable botanical subjects such as Tulipa, Aloe, Mimosa, Passiflora, and the dramatic Dragon Arum, accompanied by poetic commentary by contemporary writers including Dr. Shaw of the British Museum. A beautiful modern edition allowing readers, artists, gardeners, and collectors to experience one of the most famous botanical art books ever produced. ~ Would make a great gift, even if that's for yourself.
